Football Preview: Tolman Tigers vs. Lincoln Lions
The Tolman Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Lincoln Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tolman will be strutting in after a win while Lincoln will be coming in after a defeat.
Tolman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Middletown, who was ranked 20th at the time (Tolman was ranked 21st). The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Islanders 41-3. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-3.
Tolman found their leader in sophomore Isaiah Torres, who rushed for 59 yards and one score on only five carries.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Tolman, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Emmett Talaray, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lincoln fell victim to West Warwick and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 34-0 loss at the hands of the Wizards. Having soared to a lofty 36 points in the game before, the Lions' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Lincoln now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Tolman, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Tolman was able to grind out a solid win over Lincoln in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 22-14. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
