Liberty is 0-4 against Valley View since April of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Bison will face off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Liberty has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Liberty couldn't beat JW North on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Bison fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 11-10.
Lily Matthews led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lissette Quinones, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Valley View got the win against Orange Vista on Friday by a conclusive 18-10. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.
Valley View got a massive performance out of Alyssa Torres, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Hailey Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Valley View lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orange Vista didn't launched any.
Valley View is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Liberty has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Valley View struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Liberty came up short against Valley View in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 18-14. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
