Football Game Preview: Chilton Pirates vs. Meridian Yellowjackets

The Chilton Pirates will venture away from home to face off against the Meridian Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chilton's defense has only allowed 7.8 points per game this season, so Meridian's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Chilton's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Wortham, posting a 63-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Goldthwaite, falling 61-0.

Chilton pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.8 points over those games. As for Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Everything came up roses for Chilton against Meridian in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
