Softball Game Preview: Lindhurst Blazers vs. Highlands Scots

For the second straight game, Lindhurst will face off against Highlands. The Blazers will be playing at home against the Scots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Lindhurst's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Highlands has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Lindhurst's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Highlands with a sharp 22-0 win. The Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by ten runs or more this season.

Ashlynn Wheeler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Wheeler was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gisele Thao, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Alison Diaz-Valadez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Lindhurst always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .788. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
