League recap: Briar Woods extends winning streak with victory over Potomac Falls

5A Conference 14 recap November 5, 2013

Briar Woods extended the longest winning streak in 5A Conference 14 this week by beating Potomac Falls, 52-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Stone Bridge was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Fairfax. The Bulldogs came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.

6-foot-0 quarterback Trace McSorley of Briar Woods is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,612. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Travis Fulgham. The Broad Run star has 23 catches for 509 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Tuscarora takes on second place Briar Woods. Last week, Tuscarora beat Freedom, while Charlie Pierce's team defeated the Panthers.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Falcons take on the Huskies. Briar Woods has allowed 83 points this season, while Tuscarora has given up 153. The Falcons allowed 7 points last week as they topped Potomac Falls.

Mike Burnett's team took down the Eagles 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
