Softball Recap: Herron Extends Winning Streak to Four

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Herron had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils with a sharp 22-10 win. The Achaeans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Elena Newsom was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Taylor Cotham was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Herron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Shortridge only managed three hits.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Herron, bringing their record up to 12-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.5 runs over those games. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Herron does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Indianapolis Washington at 5:30 p.m. on June 17. The Blue Devils are facing the Continentals at the right time seeing as the Continentals are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
