Baseball Recap: Batavia Triumphs

On Monday Batavia's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Clinton-Massie Falcons. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Max Mehlman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Mason Patrick also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Batavia pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Clinton-Massie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Batavia didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-5 victory against New Richmond on the 9th. As for Clinton-Massie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-2 win against Western Brown on the 9th.
