Basketball Recap: St. Monica Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After flying high against Lancaster Baptist last Thursday, St. Monica Academy came back down to earth. The St. Monica Academy Crusaders fell 82-70 to the Monrovia Wildcats on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (69), the Crusaders still had to take the loss.

Madden Caudillo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Monrovia, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points. Kevin Sayles was another key player, going 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

The loss snapped St. Monica Academy's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-4 record. As for Monrovia, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Monica Academy will take on Santa Clarita Christian in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Monica Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three matches. Monrovia and Torrance will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
