Baseball Recap: Rio Mesa Comes Up Short

Rio Mesa lost against Agoura back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Rio Mesa Spartans fell just short of the Agoura Chargers by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by just one run.

Daniel Banuelos made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Fontyn, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Rio Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Agoura, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rio Mesa will face off against Newbury Park at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Rio Mesa has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Agoura will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on San Dimas at 2:30 p.m. on March 4th.
