Hilmar took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Hughson, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellowjackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Huskies on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted since February 26th.

Hilmar saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Sward, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was John Labno, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Hilmar pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hughson, with the defeat, they broke their 13-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-3.

Hilmar will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
