            Basketball Recap: Valparaiso Vikings vs. Penn Kingsmen        
        
		
        
        
            Valparaiso was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They were  outmatched by the Penn Kingsmen and fell  65-36. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at  36-12.
 Valparaiso's  loss shouldn't obscure the performances of  Caden Crowell, who  posted 13 points, and  Trenten Kimes, who  earned nine  points.
 Penn found their leader in freshman  Caleb Coolman, who  scored 18 points in addition to six  assists and five  boards. Coolman's evening made it three games in a row in which  he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Alexander Hawthorne, who  had 15  points.
Valparaiso's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Penn, they now  have a winning record of 6-5.
 Valparaiso will head out on the road to  take on  Michigan City  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Michigan City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.3  points per game  this season. As for Penn, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  matchup,  a  59-55  loss against Warsaw on the 14th.
