Walden Grove won the last time they faced Ironwood Ridge and things went their way on Saturday too. The Red Wolves narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Nighthawks 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Wolves.
Oliviah Valdez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Valdez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isabel Higuera, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Higuera has posted since back in April.
Walden Grove's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Ironwood Ridge, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11.
