Soccer Game Preview: Chico vs. University Prep

The Chico Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the University Prep Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Chico fell victim to Yuba City and their airtight defense on Thursday. They fell just short of the Honkers by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Honkers are ranked 66th).

Meanwhile, University Prep got the win against Lassen on Saturday by a conclusive 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

University Prep's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Chico, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4-1.

Chico was able to grind out a solid victory over University Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chico since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
