Football Recap: Cahokia Beats Collinsville for Their Sixth Straight Win

Cahokia had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 34-14 margin over the Collinsville Kahoks. Given the Comanches' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Kahoks are ranked 215th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nigel Gooden produced another solid effort rushing for 70 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 187 yards and one TD. Those 70 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Collinsville lost, don't look at Jace Wilkinson. Despite the final result, he threw for 166 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 77 yards on only eight carries. 85 of Wilkinson's passing yards were hauled in by Matthew Reynolds.

Cahokia's record now sits at 7-1. As for Collinsville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cahokia will take on Sycamore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comanches will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Collinsville, they will face off against Triad at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
