Basketball Game Preview: Smithville Warriors vs. Maryville Spoofhounds

The Smithville Warriors and the Maryville Spoofhounds will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Smithville saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They blew past South Harrison, posting an 85-33 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Sully Ford had a dynamite game, shooting 73% from the field on his way to 20 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Mason, who posted ten points along with six assists and three steals.

Smithville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Maryville had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They strolled past Chillicothe with points to spare, taking the game 60-43.

Smithville came up short against Maryville when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 66-56. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
