Softball Recap: Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

While Somerset Academy (Silver Palms)'s victory against Western wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions had just enough and edged out the Western Wildcats 3-2. The Stallions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats on Friday, too.

Ava Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leilani Gonzalez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Carley Hernandorena also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The win was the third in a row for Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), bringing their record for this year to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Western, they moved to 7-1 with that loss, which also ended their 14-game winning streak.

Coming up, Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) will face off against Bishop Verot at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Western, they will challenge Immokalee at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Western's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Immokalee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
