Basketball Recap: North Sanpete Piles Up the Points Against Ben Lomond

Ben Lomond kept up with North Sanpete until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Hawks really took it to the Scots for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-44 victory. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 75-63 win the Scots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Leading North Sanpete to victory were James Clayton and Bryce Swapp. Clayton shot 64% from the field en route to 20 points and four steals, while Swapp went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Clayton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Madsen, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Several Scots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taggart Bush, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Pitcher, who had eight points.

North Sanpete has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 74.5 points this season. As for Ben Lomond, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

North Sanpete didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-26 loss against Northridge on the 22nd. As for Ben Lomond, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 69-41 defeat against Juan Diego Catholic on the 22nd.
