After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fuquay - Varina, Smithfield-Selma was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Eastern Wayne Warriors 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in August.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Smithfield-Selma was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-11.

Smithfield-Selma's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dezirey Clark led the charge by getting eight aces. That's the most aces Clark has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Karmen Cyrus, who had 19 assists and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Smithfield-Selma was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 25 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Smithfield-Selma's record now sits at 7-14. As for Eastern Wayne, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Looking ahead, Smithfield-Selma will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cleveland at 5:30 p.m. As for Eastern Wayne, they will head out on the road to take on North Pitt at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
