Softball Recap: Lockney Gets the Win

Lockney and Memphis pushed the score to 15-5 the last time they played Memphis, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Longhorns skirted past the Cyclones 3-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 15-5 victory on April 1st.

Madison Marmolejo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Siya Salazar was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Lockney's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Memphis, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

As of now, neither Lockney nor the Cyclones have any future games scheduled.
