Baseball Recap: Vel Phillips Memorial Takes a Loss

Vel Phillips Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Middleton Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Tuesday.

Ezra Liggon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-6 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Ethan Eckel was another key player, getting four hits from his seven at bats.

Vel Phillips Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 17-8-1. As for Middleton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Vel Phillips Memorial will host DeForest at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Middleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
