Fort Bend Bush is 0-3 against Stafford since February of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Fort Bend Bush Broncos will square off against the Stafford Spartans at 12:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Fort Bend Bush's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Alief Elsik with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.
Kiersten Kyle made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those no hits gave her a new career-low. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalee Willis, who went a perfect3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Mia Rubio, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Fort Bend Bush always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stafford). Everything went their way against La Marque on Saturday as Stafford made off with a 10-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Spartans with their most commanding win of the season.
Aubrey Zamora was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. She also put up a stolen base, which washer first of the season. Genasis Mendez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base.
Fort Bend Bush's record now sits at 2-0. As for Stafford, their record now sits at 3-1.
Fort Bend Bush suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Stafford when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Fort Bend Bush avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
