Basketball Recap: Kingsbury Comes Up Short

If Kingsbury was riding high fresh off their 52-27 takedown of City University School of Liberal Arts on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kingsbury Falcons were outmatched by the White Station Spartans and fell 57-19. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-9.

Despite the defeat, Kingsbury saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maleah Ward posted 17 points. That was a full 89.5% of Kingsbury's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

White Station's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amare Boothe, who went 7 of 8 en route to 14 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Lily Pruitt, who put up eight points and four steals.

Kingsbury has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for White Station, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
