Baseball Game Preview: Carrick Raiders vs. Penn Hills Indians

The Carrick Raiders will face off against the Penn Hills Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Carrick nor Penn Hills posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Thursday, Carrick didn't have quite enough to beat Obama Academy of International Studies and fell 3-2.

Carrick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Wittmann, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Penn Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Penn-Trafford, falling 15-0.

Penn Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Carrick, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-6.

Penn Hills' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Carrick has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Penn Hills, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 strikeouts. Will Carrick keep running through batters, or will the Indians buck the trend?

Carrick couldn't quite get it done against Penn Hills in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 as they fell 6-2. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
