Preview: Providence Prep Rams vs. Valor Preparatory Academy Knights
Providence Prep has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Valor Preparatory Academy Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Providence Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Friday.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Providence Prep, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 34-16 loss to Grace Academy. Providence Prep has struggled against Grace Academy recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Providence Prep's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lilly Hodge, who scored seven points along with eight steals and seven rebounds, and Daphne Patrick who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals. Hodge hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Meanwhile, Valor Preparatory Academy put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Methodist Children's Home 71-3 on the road. Valor Preparatory Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Valor Preparatory Academy found their leader in underclassman Elyse Mason, who scored 33 points. Bryslan Elder was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Providence Prep has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Providence Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Valor Preparatory Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, sneaking past 30-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
