San Mateo had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Oceana Sharks as they made off with a 79-59 victory. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Sharks are ranked 940th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Mateo has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Oceana, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

San Mateo will head out to challenge Sequoia at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. San Mateo knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Sequoia likes a good challenge. As for Oceana, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Capuchino at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Oceana has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
