The IDEA Weslaco Pike Mavericks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-33 walloping at the hands of IDEA Frontier College Prep. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss IDEA Weslaco Pike has suffered against IDEA Frontier College Prep since February 12, 2019.

IDEA Frontier College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alejandro Maldonado led the charge by scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maldonado has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Victor Mendez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

IDEA Weslaco Pike's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 7-11. As for IDEA Frontier College Prep, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IDEA Weslaco Pike will take on Santa Rosa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Santa Rosa's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests. As for IDEA Frontier College Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Lyford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
