Baseball Game Preview: Lordstown Red Devils vs. St. John Fighting Herald

Lordstown hasn't had much luck against St. John recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Red Devils will square off against the Fighting Herald at 4:30 p.m.

Lordstown can't be too happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Friday. They came up short against McKinley, falling 17-4. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. John). Everything went their way against Edgewood on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Herald.

Gus Petros looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Anderson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Ezra Campbell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lordstown suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to St. John when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
