Basketball Recap: Druid Hills Comes Up Short

Druid Hills lost against Southwest DeKalb back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Druid Hills Red Devils were outmatched by the Southwest DeKalb Panthers and fell 66-35. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while the Panthers are ranked 29th).

It was another big night for Thomas Glanton, III, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 11 assists, and ten steals for Southwest DeKalb. With that strong performance, Glanton, III is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Messiah Mergan was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Druid Hills has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Southwest DeKalb, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

Druid Hills will head out to challenge St. Pius X Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southwest DeKalb, they will be playing at home against Lithonia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Southwest DeKalb's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
