Basketball Game Preview: Red Mountain Mountain Lions vs. Horizon Huskies

The Red Mountain Mountain Lions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Horizon Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Red Mountain will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Desert Ridge, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Everything went Red Mountain's way against Desert Ridge on Tuesday as Red Mountain made off with a 56-32 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Mountain Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Horizon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past Mountain Pointe 64-62. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Horizon's win came from a few key players Red Mountain will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ryan Milner, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five steals. Horizon is 9-4 when Milner posts five or more steals, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Korn, who put up 15 points and six boards.

Red Mountain's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points per game. As for Horizon, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Red Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over Horizon when the teams last played back in February of 2015, winning 83-76. The rematch might be a little tougher for Red Mountain since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
