Volleyball Recap: Ferguson Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Samantha Olivia and Katie Aguirre

Ferguson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coral Reef Barracudas. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Barracudas this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 two weeks ago.

Ferguson started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 25-5, 25-20, 25-23.

Katie Aguirre and Samantha Olivia certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Aguirre had 33 digs and three assists, while Olivia had 13 assists and seven digs. Denisse Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Ferguson now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Coral Reef, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

Ferguson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coral Reef, they will challenge MAST Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
