Softball Recap: Somers Takes a Loss

Somers fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against John Jay on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 2-1. The Tuskers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Julia Peanamanda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Victoria Morel, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Somers and nudges their season record down to 8-3. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for John Jay, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somers will head out to face off against Walter Panas at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for John Jay, they will venture away from home to take on Grand Street Campus at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
