Basketball Recap: Bellevue East Skates Past Lincoln East with Ease

Bellevue East hadn't done well against Lincoln East recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bellevue East Chieftains took their game with ease, bagging a 64-37 victory over the Lincoln East Spartans. The contest marked the Chieftains' most dominant win of the season.

Bellevue East was led to victory by Tniyah Wilson-Smith and Brani Jackson. Wilson-Smith dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards, while Jackson went 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Wilson-Smith has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last six times she's played. Jazlin Reimer also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

Bellevue East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Bellevue East's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Lincoln East, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-11.

Bellevue East will square off against Burke at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellevue East is facing Burke at the right time seeing as Burke is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lincoln East, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Westview at 5:15 p.m. on February 4th.
