Basketball Game Preview: Savio Eagles vs. Central Catholic Buttons

The Savio Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Central Catholic Buttons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Savio is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Savio took a blow against Antonian Prep, falling 100-48. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 948th, while the Apaches are ranked 27th).

Central Catholic has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 72-47 to TMI-Episcopal on Tuesday.

Central Catholic's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8. As for Savio, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.

Savio was taken down by Central Catholic 99-46 when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Can Savio avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
