Football Recap: Prosper Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

It was a Battle of the Birds when Prosper challenged Rockwall-Heath on Thursday. The Eagles took down the Hawks 45-27. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Hawks are ranked 50th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Rockwall-Heath lost, don't look at Prosper Neal. Despite the final result, he threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 103 yards. The Hawks also got a significant boost from Carter Zahm, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

Prosper has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 37.0 points this season. As for Rockwall-Heath, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Prosper will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against McKinney Boyd at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. The match will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Rockwall-Heath, they have already played their next game, a 34-26 victory against San Juan Hills on the 12th.
