Coachella Valley is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Yucca Valley Trojans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Coachella Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Desert Mirage 56-14 two weeks ago. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mighty Arabs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Coachella Valley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ivan Camargo, who gained 216 total yards and three touchdowns, and Ivan Garza, who threw for 199 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Camargo really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Avi?a, who picked up 98 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Coachella Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 319 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Yucca Valley made easy work of Banning last Friday and carried off a 62-42 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 20 points or more this season.
Coachella Valley better keep an eye on Aiden Pope. He was instrumental in Yucca Valley's win, picking up 305 receiving yards and four scores, while also rushing for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, Pope is now averaging an impressive 106.3 receiving yards per game. Aiden Shannon was another key player, throwing for 354 yards and four TDs while picking up 15.4 yards per attempt.
Yucca Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Ian Jarrett picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. Brody Herrera was another major factor on D, making 18 total tackles.
Yucca Valley now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Coachella Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Camargo and Clyde King. Camargo just won't slow down this season and has run in 9 touchdowns while averaging 145.8 rushing yards per game. King has been a dominant force too and has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 128.7 rushing yards per game.
Coachella Valley took their win against Yucca Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 47-24 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Trojans' Michael Ramos Jr, who rushed for 129 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 222 yards and one touchdown on only 18 passes. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Mighty Arabs to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
