Volleyball Recap: Pierce County Bears vs. Savannah Arts Academy Panthers
Pierce County lost against Savannah Arts Academy back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bears fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-19 in the first set.
Pierce County started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 19-25, 27-25, 25-15, 15-4.
Savannah Arts Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Allen, who had 27 digs and three aces. Allen is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Bella Jaqua was another key player, getting 11 digs and one assist.
Pierce County has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-21 record this season. As for Savannah Arts Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-28.
Pierce County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Savannah Arts Academy, they will take on Hardaway on Tuesday.
