Softball Recap: Hampton Crabbers vs. Phoebus Phantoms
Hampton had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-14 to make it 13. They lost 21-11 to the Phoebus Phantoms. That's two games in a row now that the Crabbers have lost by exactly ten runs.
As for Phoebus, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5. The result was nothing new for the Phantoms, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
For Phoebus' part, the team relied heavily on Gianna Illiano, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Illiano has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Chloelle Holliman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Looking ahead, Hampton will square off against Petersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Phoebus, they will take on Norcom at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
