Baseball Recap: Fort Chiswell Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fort Chiswell walked away with it. They skirted past the Grayson County Blue Devils 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted since May 16, 2024.

Fort Chiswell's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mac Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Fort Chiswell's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Grayson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Looking ahead, Fort Chiswell will take on Auburn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight. Grayson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
