Baseball Preview: Moriarty Pintos vs. Taos Tigers        
        
		
            The Moriarty Pintos will take on the Taos Tigers at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Moriarty will be strutting in after a  victory while Taos will be coming in after a  loss.
On Saturday, Moriarty got the win against Espanola Valley  by a conclusive  9-2. Considering the Pintos have won six games by more than six  runs this season, Saturday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Scott Batie looked comfortable as he  pitched 3.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. He is becoming a predictor of Moriarty's success: when he allows at  most one  earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-10 when he doesn't).

 At the plate, Moriarty let  Weston Cooley and  Mario Romero run wild. Cooley  got on base  in two of his three plate appearances with two  stolen bases and two  runs, while  Romero  earned three  runs and three  stolen bases. Moriarty is 3-1 when  Cooley posts two or  more  stolen bases, but 5-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of  Evan Pacheco, who  earned one  RBI, one  run,  and one  stolen base.
 Moriarty  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in four consecutive  contests.
Meanwhile, Taos was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They lost  17-2 to Los Alamos.
 Taos saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Sonny Abeyta, who  went 1-for-2 with one  run.
 Moriarty is  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Taos, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
 Moriarty beat Taos 18-13  in their previous matchup  last Saturday. Will the Pintos repeat their success,  or do  the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
