Recap: Wabash Apaches vs. Lewis Cass Kings

The Wabash Apaches's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Lewis Cass at home by a decisive 44-29 margin. While losing is never fun, Wabash can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Lewis Cass is ranked 69th).

When it comes to explaining why Wabash lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kierra Wilson. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Lewis Cass found their leader in underclassman Aftin Griffin, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Ava Hubner was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Wabash bumped their record down to 9-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.7 points per game. As for Lewis Cass, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

Wabash will be playing at home against North Miami at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Lewis Cass won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Taylor at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Taylor has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29.
