Softball Game Preview: Ramona Rams vs. Patriot Warriors

Ramona is a perfect 10-0 against Patriot since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rams will challenge the Warriors at 3:15 p.m. Ramona is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Patriot's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Ramona hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Rams blew past Rubidoux 18-0 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Kaytlin Stephens was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Olivia Chavez and Emily Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Chavez went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Kylie Guzman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Ramona always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Patriot's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Jurupa Valley by a score of 2-1.

Ramona's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Patriot, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Ramona was able to grind out a solid win over Patriot in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 9-4. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
