Basketball Recap: Front Range Baptist Wins Going Away Against Lone Star

Front Range Baptist had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 21-point drubbing they dealt Lone Star on Thursday. Everything went the Front Range Baptist Falcons' way against the Lone Star Longhorns as the Front Range Baptist Falcons made off with a 71-50 win. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Benjamin VanDenBerghe went supernova for Front Range Baptist, going 9-for-14 en route to 19 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Sutton, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 10 points and six boards.

Front Range Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 43 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Lone Star lost, don't look at Grant Kuntz. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine assists. Kuntz also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Lone Star is 6-3 when he posts at least five steals, but 1-4 otherwise. Anderson Weathers was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 12 points and five rebounds.

Front Range Baptist's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Lone Star, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
