Basketball Game Preview: McLaurin Tigers vs. Magee Trojans

The McLaurin Tigers will take on the Magee Trojans at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. McLaurin will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when McLaurin challenged Raleigh on Tuesday. The Tigers came out on top against the Lions by a score of 65-52. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Lions are ranked 250th).

McLaurin found their leader in sophomore TY Williams, who shot 44% from the field en route to 32 points along with seven boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Clayton Neely, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Magee). They walked away with a 71-63 win over Seminary on Tuesday.

Magee's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for McLaurin, their win bumped their record up to 19-9.

McLaurin didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Magee in their previous matchup on Friday, but they still walked away with a 60-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
