Basketball Recap: Santa Rita Takes a Loss

Santa Rita was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kofa Kings.

Kofa found their leader in sophomore Mark Mercado, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mercado has scored all season. Luis Negrete was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

Santa Rita's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Kofa, they moved to 1-7 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Santa Rita and Amphitheater will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Kofa, they and The Gregory School will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
