Recap: Coppell Cowboys vs. Hebron Hawks

The Coppell Cowboys had already won eight in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They breezed by Hebron on the road to the tune of 49-0. Considering Coppell has won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Edward Griffin looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 311 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per attempt. Diallo Hall made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

When it comes to explaining why Hebron lost, one person who can't be blamed is Antonio Dennis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 97 yards on only six carries.

Coppell's victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.4 points per game. As for Hebron, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

Coppell will take on Flower Mound at TBD on Friday. Flower Mound will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Coppell is ranked 17th). As for Hebron, they will head out on the road to face off against Plano West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Plano West is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
