Recap: Rock Port Blue Jays vs. Hamburg Wildcats
The Rock Port Blue Jays had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hamburg 71-17 at home. Rock Port has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 31 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rock Port to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bannack Skillen, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Meyerkorth, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Rock Port is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Hamburg, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Port will face off against Platte Valley co-op [South Nodaway/Jefferson] at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamburg on the road again on Monday and play against Whiting at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Iowa (Whiting is ranked 359th, while Hamburg is ranked 360th).
