Recap: Wenonah Dragons vs. John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers
The Wenonah Dragons pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-35 to John Carroll Catholic. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wenonah in their matchups with John Carroll Catholic: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Wenonah lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Young. Despite the final result, he rushed for 87 yards on only seven carries, and also threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes. Young was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Demarcus Johnson, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Wenonah has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for John Carroll Catholic, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Wenonah does not have any more games scheduled as of now. John Carroll Catholic will look to defend their home field on Friday against Maplesville at 7:00 p.m. Maplesville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while John Carroll Catholic is ranked 61st).
