Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hernando). Everything went their way against the Horn Lake Eagles on Tuesday as the Hernando Tigers made off with a 15-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Landon Holmes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Josh Pe?a was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Cade Kozcka was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Hernando always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hernando pushed their record up to 7-8-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 7.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Horn Lake, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Looking ahead, Hernando will challenge Horn Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Horn Lake, they will take on Hickory Flat at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
