Softball Preview: El Primero Lobos vs. Design Tech Dragons

The El Primero Lobos will head out to take on the Design Tech Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Primero has given up an average of 17.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for El Primero after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of KIPP San Jose Collegiate by a score of 17-16. The Lobos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tania Lopez put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and 12 unearned) runs off four hits. Lopez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Kelsy Munguia and Akira Elemen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Munguia went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Elemen went 1-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Munguia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
