The El Primero Lobos will head out to take on the Design Tech Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Primero has given up an average of 17.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for El Primero after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of KIPP San Jose Collegiate by a score of 17-16. The Lobos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tania Lopez put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and 12 unearned) runs off four hits. Lopez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Kelsy Munguia and Akira Elemen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Munguia went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Elemen went 1-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Munguia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Tanny Perez was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Design Tech entered their tilt with Summit Shasta on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Black Bears an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 11 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Jeneva Fletcher's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Sonia Teismann was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Desiree Torres, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
El Primero's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Design Tech, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. El Primero has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like Design Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .563. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
El Primero suffered a grim 29-17 defeat to Design Tech in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Lobos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
