Softball Game Preview: Rockford East E-Rabs vs. Belvidere North Blue Thunder

Rockford East is 0-10 against Belvidere North since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The E-Rabs will be playing at home against the Blue Thunder at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Rockford East played against Guilford on Monday and won via forfeit.

Adele Caiozzo was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Hammond, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.

Rockford East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Rockford East will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Belvidere North extended their winning streak to 14 on Monday. The Blue Thunder never let Belvidere get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Blue Thunder's pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four games.

Belvidere North got a massive performance out of Alexa Norgard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Josie Yakey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Belvidere North's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Rockford East, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-12.
